With intense sorrow, I must share that we lost Fancy C.C. and her doe kid on April 8, 2020 due to complications with kidding, despite watching her day and night and a C-section. Cause was not able to be determined by UC Davis, but no infectious etiologies were identified and some serious diseases were ruled out, so that was a plus. C.C. was not only my herd queen, and my best doe, she was my heart favorite and my buddy. Her loss has left a huge hole in my heart, as well as my herd, in so many ways. I now cherish her successes from 2019 all the more…

On Nov 17, 2023, I took her back to UC Davis once again for more x-rays/tests to see if there was any hope of helping her. It was not good news. Everything in me wanted to hold on to my special, sweet friend, but there was no way to fix the damage, she was suffering despite increase, daily pain meds, the winter would be brutal to her and the worst yet was that she had lost her place as queen of the herd so other does were pushing her away from the feeders and out of the shed. I poured out my love and appreciation to her through her last breath. I fully realize how rare she was and how blessed I was to call her mine and have her love me back. Good bye my sweet Emmy and thank you for everything.

Spring 2023: Emmy has been retired and there will be no more kids from Emmy. I have no idea how it happened, but the morning of 3/24/23, she was 3 legged lame, holding up her right hind. Later, x-rays & tests at UC Davis resulted in a diagnosis of a cruciate ligament rupture in the right hind, but also osteoarthritis in that leg, and osteoarthritis in her left front as well. Very sad and so unexpected. She is living the pampered life, with daily pain meds to try to keep her comfortable.

When she was born back in 2014, I never could have imagined that Emmy would turn out to be a stand out total performer! Not only is she the sweetest, most compliant goat I have ever had, but she has excelled at everything she has done; winning her way to become a permanent Champion early on, earning her Superior Genetics once she got a chance to be on milk test, scoring VEEE 90 at 7 years of age, and as an 8 year old, with no special treatment or supplements, milking 1187 lb with 93 lb of butterfat and 48 lb of protein in 2022, in addition to being a wonderful producer of quality doe kids all through the years!

Firefly is a very quiet, mellow, unassuming doe and so easy to have around, just like her sweet dam, Emmy. Firefly is long and level with wonderful rump width and fantastic body capacity yet she is still feminine with good dairy strength.

She had a good show season as a kid, winning her class in steep competition under 5 juddges, then being named Res Champion once and Champion twice. At other shows, she was 2nd to her paternal sister, Sonview Ranch Firebird. In 2019, as yearling milkers, the rivalry between Firefly and Firebird stepped up a notch. Firefly won her class under 2 judges then she was 2nd at three shows, most of those times she was 2nd to Firebird. Shown only twice in 2021, she was 5th once then 3rd behind Firebird who was 2nd. In 2022, she placed 3rd at both shows, but in 2023, she was placed ahead of Firebird at the only show they went to, so Firefly did very well considering the competition!

Firefly is milking well and has been very consistent this year. She has now been milking for 6 months and on the 9/6/23 milk test she produced 3.2 lb of milk. She has milked 3 lb or more on all 7 tests this year and is projected to milk about 846 lb on a 305 lactation for the year.

In Aug 2023, as a 5 year old, 5th freshener, who kidded with quads on 3/6/23, she appraised VVEE 90. She has the type of rump I have been breeding for and scored a 39 in rump width so I was pleased with that. She scored 34 in fore udder attachment, 33 in rear udder height and 32 for rear udder arch.

At her very first show ever, Mayla was Champion Jr Nigerian Dwarf in outstanding competition (9/5/21.) (Award ribbons were not available at the show so we could not take a win photo that day.) As a first freshening 2 year old in 2022, going to shows was a challenge to her. It took several shows for her to settle in and feel comfortable. She placed in the top 5 under every judge but was always in the shadow of herd mate, Sonview Ranch Martina, who was our standout star that year and usually Sonview Ranch Mitzy stood ahead of her in the classes too. This year she got to go to one show so far and I was delighted when she was 2nd only standing behind Sonview Ranch Marina!

I am pleased with Mayla on the milk stand. Not only is she well behaved but she is so easy to milk. She produced 3.8 lb on her first milk test and all 7 tests have been between 3.8 – 2.3 lb. Her projected 305 production is estimated at 859 lb of milk, which is fine with me for a 2nd freshener.

Extra Blessing is very special to me by virture of being a daughter of Tiffany. Not only do I love Tiffany’s style and pedigree, but she has turned out to be a total performer (not to mention that she and I are close friends.)

In the show ring, Blessing and her twin sister, Bliss, traded off winning their classes as kids. In 2022, Blessing was a yearling milker and I was pleasantly surprised when she was top 3 at every show, going 2nd only to Sonview Ranch Nazira at 3 of those shows. I expect she will keep improving with more freshenings and I look forward to that.

Treasure is a character, full of life and personality. She had an intriguing show season as a kid. At their first show, which was a major show, her twin sister, Sonview Ranch Tribute beat her and went on to win Res Champion Jr under one judge. Under a different judge at that same show, Treasure was placed ahead of her sister and this was repeated under the next judge, but under the 4th judge at that show, Treasure not only beat her sister to win the class, but was then named Res Champion Jr herself.

At their next show, Treasure was 2nd, behind a different herdmate who went on to be named Res Champion Jr, with Tribute placing 3rd behind them, but under the next judge at that show, Tribute not only won the class but was awarded Champion Jr.

To top off her junior show career, Treasure was 12th place in the large intermediate kid class at the 2019 ADGA National Show, with her twin sister, Tribute placing 10th and her herdmate, Lena, placing 14th!

I am pleased with Treasure as a milking doe but unfortunately for her, herd mates her age are more “showy” than she is, so she has not gotten to go to the shows.

I will say that I am proud of Treasure’s 2022 lactation. Some may seriously question how I can say that when she milked less than last year and her numbers are not at all impressive on paper? In 2022, she produced 744 lb with 53 lb butterfat and 38 lb protein in 305 days in her 3rd lactation, so why would I be proud of that? Well, because the numbers do not always tell the whole story. The part I am proud of is that despite the fact that she only had a single kid, was on a diet to loose the “baby fat” and she was not being fed grain, she still produced 744 lb with 53 lb butterfat and 38 lb protein in 305 days. Not being fed grain can be a deal breaker in milk production but she did not let that stop her from being the dairy doe that she is.

I welcomed Elfin Acres B Josette to my herd shortly after she was bred in 2016. In the spring of 2017, after helping her deliver, I was impressed with her newborn doe kid, whom I named Jalena. As Jalena has grown and matured, she just keeps getting more beautiful. On a day to day basis, it is a pleasure to get to see Jalena as I appreciate her style and beauty.

All our shows were cancelled in 2020. Milking 21 does was not manageable for me so I made the decision to dry up the mature does who had already earned milk stars, including Jalena just 62 days after kidding, to lighten my load. With the shows still shut down going into 2021, it was a repeat. Unfortunately that meant that when a few shows were allowed later in 2021, she was dry so she did not get to go back into the show ring.

However, her daughters that I have retained have carried on the success in the show ring. Her 2019 daughter (by Alethia SHH Gunsmoke N Lace,) Sonview Ranch Lena had a very good show season as a kid, including placing 15th in a huge class at the 2019 ADGA National show and went on to win Champion them Best in Show for her new owner up in Oregon. Jalena’s 2018 daughter (by Alethia DOH Cosmic Wonder,) Sonview Ranch Delightful Dale went Champion as a dry yearling then shocked me by winning Best Jr in Show. She finally got a chance to get into the show ring as a milker in 2021 and she did us proud. She finished her championship in short order and was awarded Best Doe in Show in outstanding competition at her last show! Delightful Dale is not only beautiful and correct, she can put the milk into the pail. She produced 934 lb of milk, 61 lb of fat and 40 lb of protein as a first freshening yearling.

Twin Pears Jalena is not just a pretty face, but she has out produced herself in her daughters.

Lemmy is one of those does who is such a pleasure to have around. She is calm, cooperative and is a solid performer in all areas.

She is a strong contender in the show ring. Last year, as a 2 year old, she won her class at 2 shows and was top 5 in highly competitive California classes at 6 of her 7 shows.

She was also a very good milker, producing 919 lb with 59 lb fat and 44 lb protein in 270 days at 7 years of age.

Nikita’s grand dam, Sonview Ranch Delightful Dale, finally got to enter the show ring as a milker in 2021. While she had done well as a junior, winning Champion then Best Jr in Show at her last show, she outdid herself when she finally got to show as a milker finishing her permanent championship in short order. She had a stellar show season, even winning Best Doe in Show and is now GCH Sonview Ranch Delightful Dale (pending ADGA) She was appraised on 5/31/21, scoring VEVE 89 as a 2nd freshening 3 year old, with 33 in dairyness, 33 in rump angle, 34 in fore udder attachment and 36 in rear udder height! Tribute had a strong show season as a junior, going Reserve Champion at a big show then topping it off by being 10th place in the huge intermediate kid class at the 2019 ADGA National Show! Entering the show ring for the first time as a milker in 2021, she won a large 2 year old class under the first judge. She appraised VVEV 88 as a 2 year old in May 2021, with 31 in rump angle, 31 in rump width, 33 in foreudder attachment and 36 in rear udder height, plus E in rear legs and back.

Besides being sweet as can be, Nakita is a pretty, dairy little doe with so much promise and many years ahead of her.

At her first show ever, in Sept 2021, Niva not only won the junior kid class, but was named Reserve Champion! Her maternal sister, Sonview Ranch Mitzy, was awarded Champion!
Then in 2022, at a show with deep and tough competition, Niva was named Champion Jr.
She is a quiet, mellow little doe who is easy to have around and so good in the show ring.
Her dam, Sonview Ranch Litzy, is doing well in the competitive shows in Texas and her granddam, Sonview Ranch Gemma, is still winning shows in Arkansas.
Niva is young and I look forward to watching her improvement as she matures, as her dam and granddam did before her.

This is the ONLY Rosasharn CB Katmandoo daughter I am offering for sale this year! Except for Reflection’s littermate sister whom I donated to the REDGA Memorial Doe Show doeling auction fundraiser, all of Katmandoo’s daughters are being retained. Katmandoo has proven himself to be an outstanding sire. I am thrilled with the sons and daughters he added to my herd this year! He is now 8 years old so every kid he produces is highly prized and a treasure.

Reflection’s littermate sister, Sonview Ranch KMD Resolute, was 14th place intermediate at the 2023 ADGA National Show and was part of my group that won 2nd place Best Three Junior Does! Their paternal sisters did very well at the Nationals this year also, with Sonview Ranch Rejoice 12th place intermediate and Sonview Ranch KMD Rainey 11th place junior.

I jumped at the chance to buy Mirage as a bottle baby back in 2018. What an amazing pedigree he has! Both his sire and dam are animals to be admired. He is a grandson of the fabulous, multi-champion producing Guy Noir & Tuscan Sun, the dam of the current National Champion, who also had best udder. As if that is not enough, he is also the grandson of Cleveland Sage, the sire of the current National Champion, (along with several other champion daughters, including one who appraised 92, and two others who appraised 91 so far) Not only does he come from proven stock that excels in the show ring and scores well on Linear Appraisal, these lines also have good milk production.

Mirage himself was just appraised 5/31/21, scoring VVE 88. I have 3 of his daughters in milk. Litzy is 2 years old and appraised VEVV 88 (We would like to see better teat placement on her but she inherited that from her dam, otherwise her udder is Oh SO NICE.) Mirage’s yearling daughter, My Valentine, scored +VVA 83, with a fore udder score of 34, compared to her dam’s fore udder score of 28. His other yearling daughter, Martina, appraised the highest of my 8 first fresheners, scoring VEVV 86.

I am keeping 5 of his daughters as I make him available to a new herd.
